Offline

No longer connected to the Internet or disconnected from the network.
Computing device or program that is unable to be controlled by a computer or communicate with a computer.
Continuing a discussion at a more appropriate time with only the interested parties.

Online

Connected to the Internet.
Computers connected to a network.
Computing device or program that is ready for operation or able to be controlled by a computer.

Operating System or OS

A software program which manages the basic operations of a computer system, such as memory, central processing unit, disk space, peripheral device, etc.
